Ark of Taste

I excitedly just learned (like, ten minutes ago) about Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste Project from the Slow Food Columbus blog. From what I understand, it is a way to promote local foods that are in danger of extinction. I was happy to discover that we have a couple of these types of chickens in our laying flock, the Buckeye and the Delaware. For a full list of these products, check out this link. And enjoy!

    • The head farmer (my hubby) tells me we have at least three of each. Our laying flock is around 30 right now. When we ordered our chickens from Meyer last year we got a mixed variety of birds…all laying brown or green eggs. We hope to do more with heritage breeds as we grow the farm. Thanks!

  1. hi Melissa! I have breeder quality Delawares from Whitmore farms in MD, I also raise Bourbon Red turkeys if you want eggs or a few poults in the spring, they are supposed to lay in the fall too but my 1 senior hen isn’t:( Shelly (poplar creek pastured poultry)
